Desert Thrill is a family-run, DET-licensed Dubai tour operator rated 4.9/5 on Tripadvisor from more than 1,000 reviews. We take our guests to the Lahbab red dunes, not the flat Al Awir desert, for evening, Premium and VIP private safaris, the Golden Hour sunset safari (no dinner camp) and morning safaris. We also run self-drive Polaris dune buggies, private Dubai city tours and half-day Abu Dhabi trips to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
What makes booking with us different: - Every car is a 2022 or newer Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol, with no more than 6 guests - Every guide is licensed, holds the Lahbab desert permit and has at least 5 years' experience - Hotel pickup and drop-off are included - Prices and all optional extras are explained upfront, with no tourist-trap surprises - Private cars are available for families and groups, with flexible pickup and your own table at our premium camp - Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. Is hotel pickup included, and what time is it?
Yes. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Dubai are included, and Sharjah and Ajman too on evening safaris. Evening pickup follows sunset: about 2:00 PM in winter, 3:00 PM in autumn and 4:00 PM in summer. Shared cars can arrive 30–40 minutes earlier depending on the route. We confirm your exact pickup time by 7:00 PM the day before.
Is it suitable for young children and older guests?
Yes. Normal dune bashing is from age 3. For younger children, seniors or anyone who prefers it, the driver goes very slowly with no jumps, so you still get the sunset, camel ride and camp. We don't take pregnant guests on dune bashing, and we advise against it for guests with heart, back or neck problems. We don't provide child car seats, but you're welcome to bring your own.
Shared, Premium or VIP private: which should we book?
Most guests pick our Premium Evening Safari (AED 175 per person): the same dunes and sunset as the standard safari, with a better camp, food and seating. For families and groups we recommend VIP Private (from AED 750 for 2): your own Land Cruiser and guide, a flexible pickup and your own table at the premium camp. For 6 people, VIP Private (AED 950 per car) is cheaper than 6 shared Premium tickets.
What is your cancellation and payment policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. Pay by card or cash, or by bank transfer on request. There are no hidden charges: the only extras are optional activities you choose on the day, such as quad bikes or dune buggies, and we always tell you the price first.
