Thrifty Car Rental

Thrifty has rented cars in the UAE since 1989, when A.A. Al Moosa Enterprises brought the franchise here. The brand itself goes back to 1958 and is today part of the Hertz Corporation.

It has the widest reach of any company on TripReview: branches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, and close to seventy pick-up points in Dubai alone. Those run from staffed desks at Dubai International Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and in malls such as Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta, to delivery-and-collection-only cover in residential districts from Arabian Ranches to Mirdif.

Thrifty rents by the day, week and month, and writes personal and business leases for longer commitments. It says it runs its own workshops in Dubai and Abu Dhabi rather than sending cars out for maintenance.

Worth a look if you would rather collect from an airport desk or a branch near your hotel than meet a driver in a car park.
