pruebas, no rumores

Search a name, a website, a phone number, an Instagram handle or a trade licence. You will get the published record, or a plain statement that there isn't one.

A company with no published report is shown as not on the watchlist. That is not a safety guarantee — it means nobody has reported it to us.

  1. High risk

Several travellers independently reported the same serious problem, and it is either unanswered or unresolved.

    Qué hace falta
    • Three or more verified reports naming the same company
    • Reports describe the same issue, not unrelated complaints
    • Money, licence or identity is involved — not a service complaint
    • The company was contacted and has not resolved it

Para salir de este nivel: Evidence the issue is fixed, plus ninety days with no new verified report of the same kind.

  2. Under investigation

A report passed verification and we are checking it. Nothing is proven, and the company has been asked to respond.

    Qué hace falta
    • At least one report survived identity and evidence checks
    • The traveller supplied a booking reference, receipt or written exchange
    • The company has been contacted and the response window is open

Para salir de este nivel: It becomes High risk, Resolved, or Not substantiated once the check finishes.

  3. Resolved

A report was substantiated and the company put it right. It stays on the record, because the record is the point.

    Qué hace falta
    • The reported issue was substantiated
    • The company refunded, corrected or changed the practice
    • The traveller confirmed it, or documentary evidence shows it

Para salir de este nivel: It does not leave. Resolved entries stay published, dated, with the company's response.

  4. Not substantiated

A report was made and checked, and the evidence did not support it. Published so the company is not quietly tarnished.

    Qué hace falta
    • The report could not be corroborated
    • Evidence contradicted the account, or none was supplied
    • Identity or booking could not be confirmed

Para salir de este nivel: It does not leave, and it does not count towards any other band.

  5. Not on the watchlist

No published report names this company. That is not the same as vouching for it — check the licence and the terms yourself.

    Qué hace falta
    • No verified report has been published against this company

Para salir de este nivel: A verified report moves it to Under investigation.

Independent reports
How many separate travellers reported the same thing, checked as separate people rather than one account posting repeatedly.
Genera preocupación: Three or more, describing the same issue.
What kind of issue
Money not returned, a licence or identity that does not match, or a vehicle and itinerary substituted after payment — weighed apart from ordinary service complaints.
Genera preocupación: Money, licence or identity, rather than poor service.
Evidence supplied
A booking reference, a receipt, a contract or the written exchange. A report with none of these does not get published.
Genera preocupación: Documents that corroborate the account.
Company response
Every named company is contacted and given a response window, and whatever it sends is published beside the entry, unedited.
Genera preocupación: No response inside the window, or a response that does not address the reports.
Resolution
Whether the money came back, the practice changed, or the traveller confirmed it was put right.
Genera preocupación: Nothing resolved after the response window closes.
Recurrence
Whether the same issue comes back after a company says it is fixed.
Genera preocupación: A new verified report of the same kind inside ninety days.

Lo que no haremos

Los límites forman parte de la valoración.

  • No company is listed on an anonymous tip alone.
  • A single unresolved complaint is not a High risk rating.
  • Ratings cannot be bought, and no company can pay to be removed.
  • A company's own response is published beside the entry, unedited.
  • Absence from the watchlist is never presented as a safety guarantee.

  • Salik, combustible o seguro cobrados a posteriori
Browse car rental companies

Browse desert safari companies

How to Check a UAE Travel Company Before You Pay

Who you are paying, what to get in writing, and what to do if a booking has already gone wrong.

1Check who you are paying

  • Ask for the trade licence and match the company name on it to the name on the invoice and on the payment.
  • Be wary when the payee is a person rather than the company.
  • Pay by card where you can — a card payment can be disputed with your bank; cash and bank transfers usually cannot.
  • Search the phone number and website as well as the name — one operator can trade under several names.

2Get the booking in writing

  • The exact car, vehicle or boat, the date, the price and what the price includes.
  • The deposit amount and the date it will be returned.
  • The cancellation rule — read it before you pay, not after.
  • At handover, photograph the car or vehicle with the date visible.

3If something has already gone wrong

  • Keep every message, receipt, contract and bank record.
  • Put your complaint to the company in writing and give it a reasonable deadline.
  • Ask your bank or card issuer about a chargeback as soon as possible — there are time limits.
  • File a claim on the watchlist with your evidence.
  • Report fraud to the police.

What is the TripReview Scam Watchlist?

A public record of UAE travel companies that travellers have reported with evidence — car rental, airport transfer, desert safari and yacht companies. A company is named only after a report survives verification, and its reply is published beside the entry.

How do I check if a Dubai travel company is legitimate?

Search its name, phone number or website on the watchlist, match its trade licence to the name on your invoice, read recent reviews on its profile, and never pay in full to a personal bank account.

Does a company that is not on the watchlist mean it is safe?

No. Not being listed only means no report about it has been verified. Check the company's licence, reviews and payment details as well.

How is a company rated on the watchlist?

Every entry has one of five published ratings: High risk, Under investigation, Resolved, Not substantiated or Not on the watchlist. Each is defined by the evidence it takes to enter it and what it takes to leave it — it is never a score.

Can a company pay to be removed from the watchlist?

No. A High risk rating ends only with evidence the issue is fixed and ninety days without a new verified report of the same kind. Resolved entries stay published, dated, with the company's response.

Can a company reply to a report?

Yes. The company is contacted before anything is published, and its response appears beside the entry, unedited.

How do I report a scam?

File a claim with your booking, receipt or contract. The evidence is checked before anything is published, the company is contacted for its reply, and your name is not published.

What should I do if I paid a company that then disappeared?

Keep every message, receipt and bank record, ask your bank or card issuer about a chargeback as soon as possible, file a claim on the watchlist, and report it to the police.
